Agent Orange Presumptive Conditions

Understanding Agent Orange

Agent Orange was one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War to destroy enemy crops and jungle foliage. The chemical was named for the orange-striped barrels in which it was stored. The primary toxic component of Agent Orange was dioxin, specifically 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), which is highly persistent in the environment and has severe health effects.

Agent Orange Presumptive Conditions

The VA recognizes certain diseases as Agent Orange Presumptive Conditions. These conditions are presumed to be service-connected if a veteran was exposed to Agent Orange during military service.
